Libya : Minister Of State survives assassination attempt in Tripoli

Libyan Minister of State for Cabinet Affaire Adel Jomaa was shot in an assassination attempt while in his car in Tripoli, the national unity government announced. The authorities launched an investigation to identify the assailants and denounced the attack as aimed at destabilizing the country. The UN and the United States strongly condemned this act of political violence. This latest incident comes against a backdrop of persistent tensions in Libya, marked by attacks on political figures, notably that of Ibrahim Dbeibah in April 2024 and Fathi Bachagha in 2021.
